Phil Hellmuth Storms off Set after Meltdown during No Gamble, No Future
A remark during an episode of PokerGO's popular show made the 17-time WSOP bracelet winner lose it, resulting in him walking off the set
The 17-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and legendary poker player, Phil Hellmuth, recently stormed out of the set during an episode of PokerGO’s popular show “No Gamble, No Future.” The poker pro, also known as the “Poker Brat,” is famous for being emotional but the latest move may mark one of his most dramatic blowups.
Hellmuth participated in a game with a number of other professional poker players, including Humboldt Mike, Nik Airball, Jean-Robert Bellande, Matt Hanks, Alan Keating, as well as Ryan Feldman, the co-owner of Hustler Casino Live.
The $200/$400 no-limit hold’em game resulted in the “Poker Brat” losing a significant sum and saw him storm out of the stage. After his blowup, he did not return for the game before the game had ended.
But what made Hellmuth lose it during the recent poker game? After a strong start, the “Poker Brat” lost several hands but what tipped the scale were comments made by the other players that irritated him to the point of no return.
A Brewing Conflict
Things started to turn sour for Hellmuth after he was holding an Ace and King of hearts against Feldman who held a pair of Queens. After he had to rebuy an extra $30,000, the “Poker Brat” was starting to get angry and said: “F*****g morons running like this against me, it’s unbelievable.” Moreover, he said that it wasn’t fun playing against the Hustler Casino Live’s co-owner, adding: “The weird s**t you get away playing with.”
After going back and forth with some other players, Hellmuth continued to complain during an interview with Natalie Bode. However, he would eventually calm down before blowing up once again and this time, leaving the poker table.
Holding a pair of Jacks, Mike went for Hellmuth’s entire stack of chips. At the time, the “Poker Brat” held an Ace and a Queen. On the flop, an Ace, a seven and a nine appeared, putting Hellmuth in a good position.
However, the turn and river brought an eight and a Jack. This enabled Mike to score a three of a kind, ultimately winning the hand. Unexpectedly, Hellmuth said: “Nice hand.”
But Mike’s remark “Phil, I’ve got an address if you need to send some (money),” didn’t go well with the “Poker Brat” who jumped up and asked: “Buddy, I told you, alright, you want me to quit?” Moreover, Hellmuth continued: “I’m going to f**king quit. I can’t play with you anymore. You are such an a**hole.”
The 17-time WSOP bracelet winner said that he didn’t mind losing the flip but added that he asked Mike not to make remarks. “No, you’ve been more out of line to me than any other person has been to me in a year and a half. F**k you, man,” said Hellmuth before standing up, removing his microphone and storming out of the studio.
