PGCB Publishes July Report as Industry Revenue Grows to $558M
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course topped the total revenue chart, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort and Rivers Casino Philadelphia

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has published its financial report for July, highlighting a double-digit increase in gaming revenue. While most verticals experienced growth, table games, VGTs, and fantasy sports declined slightly.
Online Gaming, Especially Slots, Experienced Stellar Growth
According to the PGCB, the combined total revenue generated by the state’s gaming industry reached $557.7 million for the month, up 11.36% year-on-year. For comparison, the revenue for July 2024 stood at approximately $501 million.
The regulator further noted that retail slots generated $208.5 million of the grand total, making them the single most profitable vertical. This figure translates to a 2% increase from the $204.3 million reported in the prior-year period.
Retail table game revenue, meanwhile, declined slightly to $76.2 million. This figure is equivalent to a decrease of almost 4% from the $79.4 million in July 2024.
In the meantime, the iGaming slot sector experienced a staggering 41.3% growth in revenue to $177.2 million. Online slots experienced the highest growth out of all verticals, attesting to online gaming’s potential.
iGaming Tables revenue also experienced growth, albeit more modestly. The PGCB’s report highlighted revenue of $48.5 million for the sector, up 4% YOY. iGaming poker revenue increased by almost 10% YOY, reaching $2.5 million.
Sports betting revenue, on the other hand, increased by 5.2% to $40.6 million. For comparison, the sports betting sector reported $38.6 million in revenue in July 2024.
The Video Gaming Terminal (VGT) sector’s revenue dipped slightly (-1%) to $3.5 million.
Finally, fantasy contests’ revenue plummeted by 17% to $592,766.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course Topped the Revenue Charts
Taking a look at how the state’s various operators performed, it becomes clear that Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, Golden Nugget, and Presque Isle Downs and Casino were the biggest winners in terms of revenue change, with their revenues increasing by 30.2%, 37.1%, and 41%, respectively. The three properties’ revenues reached $103.5 million, $7.6 million, and $12.5 million, respectively.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course also topped the total revenue chart, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort with $88.9 million (up 19.2% YOY), and Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $57.5 million (up 16.6% YOY).
Conversely, the Casino at Nemacolin remained at the bottom of the revenue chart ($2.7 million), despite experiencing a respectable 12.1% increase year-on-year.
In other news, the Senate in Pennsylvania recently advanced a new bill that would lower the slot machine count on casino floors.
