Oddschecker Discontinues Betting Professor Amid Substantial Losses
Oddschecker made this announcement only three months after launching the service in August 2024
Oddschecker has pulled the plug on The Betting Professor, its paid tipping service, after it bombed and lost a lot of money.
Oddschecker Faces Backlash Over Betting Professor’s Claims
Oddschecker made this call just three months after rolling out the service in August 2024. It had hyped it up as a special perk for those who signed up for Oddschecker Unlimited, the company’s top-tier subscription plan that cost £19.99 ($25.75) each month.
Right from the start, The Betting Professor caught people’s eye with its daring statements and suspect methods. It hit the scene as an unnamed gambling whiz said to have racked up over £20 million ($13 million) in past wins sparking early curiosity. However, doubts came fast as many of these claims could not be checked. Members soon started to complain about the lack of clear records to track how well the service did, a big mistake that made users lose faith.
A key complaint was the absence of clear bankroll management guidance, which exposed many followers to the high-risk betting volume of the strategy.
Social media posts showcased specific victories but failed to reveal the growing losses happening behind the scenes. These problems got worse due to changing odds that differed a lot between bookies often preventing customers from betting at the prices they saw advertised.
Oddschecker Shuts Down Service Following 92.70 Point Loss
The situation got worse when financial records came out showing big losses. By September 30, The Betting Professor’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) posted an update showing they were down -92.70 points. Things kept going downhill. Losses grew even more, with the total profit and loss reaching a low of -170 points. These numbers would wipe out the bankrolls of almost all gamblers, except for the most careful ones.
After seeing these results, Oddschecker chose to stop the service. The Betting Professor talked about this saying it still believed in what the content could do in the future, but it had listened to people saying there were too many bets and stakes to handle.
Oddschecker announced it is stopping the service to focus on things that were easier to manage and could make more money for customers as it looks ahead to 2025 and beyond.
Despite the end of its paid subscription model, The Betting Professor is not disappearing entirely. Oddschecker says it will still share tips on its platform, but less often and for free. This change is part of a bigger plan to give more trustworthy and diverse betting insights, which will keep being a key part of what the site offers.
