No Big Winners This Weekend as Another Month of Powerball and Mega Millions Awaits
The next Powerball drawing is set to take place later today
The final Mega Millions and Powerball drawings for February have gone without big winners as both the jackpots and the tier-two prizes remained elusive. Despite that, a few players did manage to scoop up six-figure sums.
Nine Mega Ball Players Won Five-Figure Sums
The February 27 Mega Millions drawing saw no big winners, with the game’s top prize remaining unclaimed. At the time of the drawing, the jackpot stood at $458 million with a cash value of $212.4 million.
The winning white numbers for the Friday drawing were 11, 18, 39, 43, and 67. The Mega Ball, on the other hand, landed on 23.
As mentioned, no one matched all the numbers to win the jackpot and no one matched all five white numbers to win the game’s second-tier prize either. However, nine separate players nailed four numbers and the Mega Ball to win various five-figure sums. These included four winners of $20,000 each (2X multiplier), three winners of $30,000 each (3X multiplier), a single winner of a $40,000 prize (4X multiplier), and a single winner of a $50,000 prize (5X multiplier).
In the meantime, the jackpot reached $473 million with a cash option of $221.8 million for the Tuesday drawing.
Power Play 4X Meant Two Prizes of $200K
In the meantime, the February 28 Powerball drawing experienced a similar lull, with no one winning the jackpot or the game’s second-tier prize. For context, the game’s jackpot stood at $237 million with a cash value of $111.5 million at the time of the drawing.
On Saturday, Powerball pulled the following as its winning numbers: 6, 20, 35, 54, and 65, with a Powerball of 10. While this combination turned out to be a fairly unfavorable one for players hoping to win one of the game’s biggest prizes, it still handed several smaller prizes to players.
Official Powerball data shows that a total of fifteen players won the game’s third-tier prize. These included thirteen who won $50,000 each, as well as two who won $200,000 each due to Power Play.
The Powerball top prize has now reached $249 million with a cash value of $117.2 million. The next drawing is set to take place later today.
