A player from Ocean County, New Jersey, has won a seven-figure sum from a scratch-off ticket, according to an official announcement by the New Jersey Lottery. This came shortly after a separate player won $1 million from Powerball.
The Player Won the Game’s First Top Prize
According to the New Jersey Lottery, the winner secured a top prize of $1,000,000 from the $1,000,000 Spectacular scratch-off game. This is one of the lottery’s $10 games and, at launch, featured a total of 4 top prizes of $1,000,000.
Lottery officials said that the winning ticket was sold at Lucky 7 Deli, 408 Route 70 in Lakehurst. The ticket won one of the 4 top prizes, officials added. As a result, there are 3 prizes of $1,000,000 left in the game.
The winning ticket was scratched not too long after the game was launched. For reference, the $1,000,000 Spectacular scratch-off tickets hit the shelves on November 5, with the winning ticket being purchased on November 17.
In addition to the top prizes, the game also features 32 prizes of $10,000, only 1 of which has been won so far. Interestingly, official data shows that the $10,000 ticket was sold on the same day as the $1 million one. The game also boasts numerous smaller prizes ranging from $20 to $2,000.
Lottery officials noted that only a few days later, a separate player bought a $5 Emerald 5X from Topshelf Liquor, 613 Elm Street, in Kearny, Hudson County. That ticket won one of the game’s three top prize of $155,000, leaving only one unclaimed.
Powerball Player Won $1M
As mentioned, the $1,000,000 Spectacular prize came shortly after the lottery announced the winner of a $1 million Powerball prize. While this sum means that the player in question has narrowly missed an even bigger payout, it is still a significant sum that is nothing to sneeze at.
In the meantime, the Friday Mega Millions drawing proved rather uneventful as the game failed to elect a jackpot winner or a winner of a seven-figure prize.
