NCPG Launches New National Gambling Support Line

The newly launched helpline replaces the organization’s previous primary number and represents a major step forward in NCPG’s broader effort to modernize its support services

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) has started using a new nationwide helpline number, 1-800-MY-RESET, to make support for gambling-related problems easier to access and remember. People across the United States can now call this number at any time to get professional help with gambling issues.

Updated National Gambling Helpline Aims to Break Barriers to Treatment

The new helpline takes the place of the organization’s old main number and marks a big change in NCPG‘s wider plan to update its support system. By choosing an easier-to-understand and neutral hotline name, the nonprofit aims to reduce shame and push people to ask for help when worries come up — for themselves or others they care about.

When you call 1-800-MY-RESET, you will be connected to the National Problem Gambling Helpline Network, which works as a central hub to 24 approved contact centers across the country. These centers have trained experts who follow service rules that are recognized worldwide. The helpline runs non-stop and does not cost anything, giving private advice and pointing callers to local treatment and recovery help.

NCPG leaders stressed that gambling harm does not follow one pattern and can impact people at different levels of involvement. By making access easier through an easy-to-remember number, the group hopes to remove barriers that often stop people from asking for help.

Rising Gambling Access Drives NCPG to Expand National Support Efforts

The rollout happens as gambling options across the US keep growing in sports betting and online gaming. Research that NCPG mentions shows that 20 million American adults said they experienced at least one sign of gambling-related harm in the last year. As legal gambling spreads, the council sees easy-to-access prevention and treatment services as key to public health.

While the new number aims to become the main national contact point, the old helpline number 1-800-522-4700 will stay active. Yet how states adopt and promote 1-800-MY-RESET may vary due to different rules. NCPG is asking regulators and industry partners to back the new hotline to make sure people can access it across all areas.

The launch of the new number also comes after recent legal changes involving the old 1-800-GAMBLER hotline. A New Jersey-based group got control of it back after a fight over its license. This change led NCPG to set up its own unified national contact line.

On top of launching the helpline, NCPG aims to broaden public education efforts throughout 2026 and 2027. These campaigns will focus on raising awareness, stepping in early, and breaking down the shame linked to gambling addiction.

NCPG started as the only national nonprofit devoted to cutting down gambling-related harm. It stays neutral on legal gambling while pushing for stronger protections and easy-to-access support networks across the country.
