Missouri Lottery Player Wins $1M, Another One Bags $100K
One of the winners won with a ticket that was launched only two weeks ago
The Missouri Lottery has unveiled two recent winners, including the winner of a $1 million prize and one of the first winners of a six-figure sum from one of the lottery’s newest games.
Woman Thinks She’d Won 100K, Boss Tells Her It’s $1M
On October 27, the lottery announced an unnamed woman as the winner of a $1 million prize from a Gold Rush scratch-off ticket. The lucky player purchased the ticket at Country Mart, 180 Plaza Drive in Ste. Genevieve, but failed to realize how much she’d won at first.
In an interview with lottery officials, the woman said that she thought she’d won $100,000, which was still an exciting development. However, when she showed the ticket to her boss, her excitement reached a crescendo as he informed her that she’d actually won $1 million.
The woman was so excited that she began to shake. She took the day off to process the thought of having won such a significant sum.
According to the Missouri Lottery, the $10 Gold Rush tickets were launched in July this year. Officials added that over $23.4 million in prizes remain unclaimed.
West Plains Woman Wins $100K
In the meantime, a separate woman decided to buy a ticket on a whim, only to walk out six-figure-richer. The woman, who also remained anonymous, bought her ticket while on a visit to a shop in West Plains.
While shopping, she decided to grab a few tickets, which included the winning $5 Merry Money ticket, netting her a $100,000 prize.
The woman admitted that she had never won anything like this before.
The Merry Money game was launched on October 13 and is one of the freshest additions to the Missouri Lottery roster. Since its launch a few weeks ago, the game has handed over $1.1 million in prizes, lottery officials said.
The Missouri Lottery teased that there are two additional prizes of $100,000 still available.
