Michigan Man Buys Lottery Ticket on a Whim, Wins $2M

A lucky man from Michigan has proven that we should listen to our inner voices after winning $2 million thanks to a ticket he bought on a whim. In an interview with the lottery, the fortunate player said that he plans to save his winnings.

Man Turns Random Whim into $2M

According to the Michigan Lottery, the $2 million prize was won by a 32-year-old Wayne County man who bought a $20 100X instant game ticket. Speaking to the lottery, the man admitted that he isn’t a regular player and that he bought the ticket on a whim while visiting the store.

I don’t usually play the 100X game, but I bought a few on a whim while I was at the store.

The player added that he started scratching off the tickets he bought, only to match the number 11 with a $2MIL symbol. At first, he wondered what that meant since he didn’t really believe he had won $2 million.

As it turned out, however, this is exactly what had happened.

When my mom looked the ticket over and told me it was a $2 million winner, I was so excited I didn’t know what to do with myself! Turning $20 into $2 million is unbelievable and still doesn’t feel real. I don’t think it’s going to fully sink in until I cash the check.

The Man Will Save the Money

The Michigan Lottery congratulated the man on his life-changing win. Lottery commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said:

The decision to purchase a few Lottery tickets on a whim changed this lucky player’s life forever! Congratulations to the player on his incredible $2 million win!”

For context, the winning ticket was sold at Fleck’s Fresh Mart, located at 45495 Michigan Avenue in Canton.

The Michigan Lottery added that the player recently visited the lottery HQ to claim his prize, choosing the $1.3 million lump sum option. As mentioned, the man plans to save his winnings.

The Wayne County winner isn’t the only recent Michigan Lottery winner, though, as two players recently won mouth-watering prizes. These included an instant ticket buyer, who won $500K, as well as a Powerball enthusiast who scooped up $150K from Powerball.
