Armand Duplantis Going for Gold at the 2024 Olympics
At the age of 24, Armand Duplantis has a good chance to establish himself as the GOAT of men’s pole vault. The American-born Swedish athlete won the Olympic gold three years ago in Tokyo, and his performances have improved even more since.
Last year, for example, he cleared 6+ meters on 60 occasions, which is more than any pole vault athlete has ever done. In September, he broke the world pole vault record by going over 6.23. Then, on April 20, 2024, he broke it again in Xiamen, China, this time going over 6.24m.
What’s interesting is that the Olympic record is 6.03, which was set by Brazilian pole vaulter Thiago Braz in 2016. Is it time for that record to be broken as well?
Sam Kendricks (USA) and Ernest John Obiena (PHI) Hoping for Duplantis Slip
Sam Kendricks (USA) and Ernest John Obiena (PHI) are seen as Duplantis’s two top rivals for Gold at the 2024 Olympics. Each of them is priced at +1400, suggesting that they stand very little chance to ruin the Swede’s plans.
The reason is that their personal bests are way below Duplantis’s. Sam Kendrick’s record is 6.06m, but he’s never gone over 6m in major competitions such as the Olympics. When it comes to Ernest John Obiena, his personal best is 6m.
2024 Olympics: Men’s Pole Vault Prediction
Armand Duplantis to win Gold in Men’s Pole Vault event is probably the safest bet for the 2024 Olympics. The fact that he went 60 times over 6m last year means that he will have no problems winning the gold medal. In fact, we think it’s very likely he will break the Olympic pole vault record on August 5.
Pick: Armand Duplantis
