Mega Millions & Powerball Jackpots Survived, But a Few Players Won Big
Mega Millions had a somewhat uneventful drawing, but Powerball awarded prizes of $1 million to two players
Mega Millions and Powerball just held their latest drawings, but no player managed to match all numbers to win either game’s top prize. Despite that, two Powerball players won seven-figure sums from the drawing that took place on Saturday.
Mega Millions Had a Rather Uneventful Drawing
The Friday, February 13, Mega Millions drawing was business as usual, with no one grabbing the top prize. This time, there weren’t any winners of the game’s second-tier prize either, although a few players managed to win various five-figure sums.
For context, the winning numbers for the Friday drawing were 34, 40, 49, 59, and 68, with a Mega Ball of 1. Matching all numbers would have yielded a hypothetical lucky player some $385 million if they went with the annuity, or $174.2 million if they picked the one-time, lump sum option.
In addition to no one matching all six numbers, no player succeeded in matching the five white numbers either. As a result, no one won a seven-figure prize from the Friday Mega Millions drawing.
However, there were a few winners of the game’s third-tier prize, which ranges from $20,000 to $100,000, depending on players’ multiplier. After matching four white numbers and the Mega Ball, seven players won various prizes. These included two players who took $20,000 each, three who took $30,000 each, one who scooped up $40,000, and one who took home $50,000.
The next Mega Millions drawing is set to take place tomorrow, with the jackpot currently standing at $395 million with a cash value of $183.3 million.
Two Powerball Players Won $1M
In the meantime, the Saturday Powerball drawing also failed to elect a grand winner. Unlike Mega Millions, however, Powerball crowned not one, but two winners of its second-tier prize.
The winning numbers for the St. Valentine’s Day drawing were 23, 43, 58, 60, and 64, with a Powerball of 24. The estimated jackpot at the time was $142 million with a cash option of $66.7 million.
As mentioned, no one won the top prize, but two players, one from Florida and one from New Hampshire, won $1 million each after correctly matching the five white numbers. If any of them had the Power Play feature active, they could have gotten $2 million instead.
In the meantime, eleven players matched four white numbers and the Powerball. Ten of them will take home $50,000 each, while the other one will take home $100,000 due to Power Play.
The next Powerball drawing is set to take place later today.
