Mega Millions Jackpot Goes Unclaimed, Missouri Player Wins $3M

Although the usual prize for guessing all white numbers is $2 million due to the default 2x multiplier, the player in question had the 3x multiplier active

While the winner of November’s Mega Millions jackpot just came forward to claim their prize, the game’s latest drawing did not crown a new winner. The drawing, which took place yesterday, however, did award a single seven-figure sum to a lucky player in Missouri.

A Lucky Player Won a Seven-Figure Prize

As mentioned, Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing elected no new jackpot winner. One player, however, narrowly missed the game’s top prize by guessing all numbers with the exception of the Mega Ball.

For context, the winning numbers for the drawing that took place on January 6 were 9, 39, 47, 58 and 68. The Mega Ball, on the other hand, was 24.

If a player had managed to guess all of these numbers correctly, they would have been in for an $180 million payday, or $81.9 million if they selected the lump sum option rather than the annuity.

In the meantime, the player who guessed all numbers but the Mega Ball will receive a prize of $3 million. While a far shot from the $180 million top prize, this is still a life-changing sum that is certain to provide the player with a great start to the year.

Although the usual prize for guessing all white numbers is $2 million due to the default 2x multiplier, the player in question had the 3x multiplier active, increasing the money they will get.

In addition to that, four players guessed four white numbers and the Mega Ball. One of them had a 2x multiplier and will get $20,000, while the rest had a 3x multiplier active and will instead get $30,000 each.

Meanwhile, the jackpot has continued to grow and is currently standing at $199 million with a cash option of $90.5 million. The next drawing is set to take place this Friday at 11 pm ET.
