Man Takes Hard Rock Biloxi to Court After Chair Breaks at Slot Machine
Court documents state that George Powell was injured in multiple areas after a chair he was sitting on at the casino collapsed, causing him to fall to the floor

A guy from South Carolina is suing the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. He claims he got hurt because of something that happened there. The Harrison County Circuit Court is now handling the case, which is all about a chair at a slot machine that the man says was faulty.
Man Claims Casino Chair Injury Left Him Hurt and Distressed
Court papers show that George Powell was at the casino when the chair he was sitting on broke, making him fall to the ground. He says the fall hurt him in several places, such as his right shoulder and arm, as reported by the Sun Herald. The legal documents also mention that the impact hurt his whole body and left him feeling upset long after it happened.
Willie T. Abston, a lawyer from Flowood, represents Powell in a lawsuit against Hard Rock Casino and Modern Gaming Inc., the chair’s maker. Powell claims Hard Rock did not keep its guests safe and says Modern Gaming sold a chair without proper safety checks.
Powell’s lawyers say both companies were careless. They argue Hard Rock did not keep its property safe, and Modern Gaming did not make sure its furniture was safe. The lawsuit asks for money to cover Powell’s injuries. It also wants extra money to punish what it calls reckless actions.
Man Seeks Damages, Citing Physical and Emotional Impact
Right after the event, Powell told employees he felt pain in his right shoulder. A maintenance person took away the broken chair, and Powell went back to his hotel room. However, as the pain got worse and swelling increased, Powell looked for medical help. He first went to a nearby medical center before getting treatment at Merit Health in Biloxi.
The legal claim discusses more than just physical harm. It also mentions ongoing mental effects like worry and stress, which Powell says have kept affecting his life.
At this point, Hard Rock and Modern Gaming have not released any public statements about the accusations, and they have not filed an official response in court yet. The lawsuit shows one side of the argument, and we will see more updates as it moves through the legal process. This case joins a bunch of other personal injury claims against Mississippi casinos, but it is different because it is about a broken chair instead of the usual complaints about slipping and falling.
