Georgia Woman Wins $2M Massachusetts Lottery Prize

A woman from Georgia was the first recipient of a seven-figure prize from the Massachusetts Lottery’s $25,000,000 Mega Money, one of the state’s freshest lottery games. The game went live only on May 13 and has already minted its first millionaire, generating significant hype about the prizes to come.

In the winner’s case, however, buying a ticket was not something on her to-do list. The woman, Vanesa Menijvar Acosta, later revealed that she received the winning scratch-off ticket as a gift from her father. Neither of them knew that this was going to turn into the gift of a lifetime.

Acosta won a $2 million prize and opted to receive it as a one-time payment of $1.3 million before taxes. In an interview with Massachusetts Lottery officials, she said she planned to use the money to buy a house and pay for her college.

The Massachusetts Lottery revealed that the winning ticket was sold at East Boston Corner Market, 233 London St. in East Boston. The store will receive a $20,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

The lottery added that there are three more $2 million prizes remaining, as well as three grand prizes of $25 million.

JAWS Game Nets $100K to a Player in Missouri

In Missouri, a separate player won big after buying a scratch ticket. The player in question bought the new JAWS scratcher, which was released on May 27, thus becoming one of the game’s first winners and walking out some $100,000 richer.

According to the announcement, the ticket was purchased from Royals Liquor at 6404 Gravois Ave in St. Louis. The man later visited the Missouri Lottery office in St. Louis to claim his prize.

In the meantime, the lottery said that some $6.7 million in JAWS prizes remain.

Florida Lottery Player Wins $108K Fantasy 5 Jackpot

Elsewhere, a Florida Lottery player secured a jackpot prize after buying a lottery ticket while visiting the Walmart Supercenter in Bartow. The seemingly spontaneous purchase quickly turned into a $108,152 payday as the ticket matched all five numbers for the Fantasy 5 game.

For context, the winning numbers for the June 11 drawing were 4, 10, 15, 30, and 34. The odds of matching all numbers stand at 1 in 376,992, according to the Florida Lottery’s official website.

As of the time of this writing, the player has yet to come forward and claim their prize.
