Los Angeles FC Going for the 2024 MLS Cup

Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami is out of the 2024 MLS Playoffs. Last season’s MLS Cup winners, Columbus Crew, are also out of the competition. This leaves Los Angeles FC as pretty much the only heavyweight still in the game.

Judging by the 2024 MLS odds, LAFC are the No. 1 favorite to win the MLS Cup, priced at +184. Still, it’s a long way until the final, and the first obstacle on that road is the Seattle Sounders. Their first duel is played at BMO Stadium, where Los Angeles FC have been terrific in 2024.

They won their last four MLS games, most recently against the Vancouver Whitecaps 1:0. It’s actually kind of surprising that they didn’t score more in that game as their offense looks really good.

They have Denis Bouanga, who’s one of the best strikers in North America. They also have rising stars, Christian Oliveira and Tomas Angels. On top of that, they also have some veterans in the final third, most notably, Carlos Vela, Kei Kamara, and Olivier Giroud.

Seattle Sounders Coming to LA to Fight

The Seattle Sounders’ roster in 2024 doesn’t look great, but these guys have been doing great. It’s because these players always give their utmost. Being busy on the field has worked wonders for them, especially in the last couple of months.

They’re without a single loss since the last day of August, winning five of their last nine games in regulation, and another two after penalties. The two penalty wins happened in their last two games, both of which were against the Houston Dynamo.

These guys are good defensively, but we doubt they can do much against LAFC. After all, they conceded at least a goal in each of their last six duels.

Los Angeles FC vs. Seattle Sounders Prediction

Los Angeles FC’s players are much, much better than those playing for Seattle. The Sounders are great defensively, but we doubt they can stop Bouanga & Co. Our prediction is that LAFC will get the job done, probably scoring more than a goal in the process.  

Pick: Los Angeles FC
