LeBron James’ 18-Year 10+ Point Streak Ends, Costs Bettor $15K

The living legend of an NBA player has faltered for the first time in 18 years, costing one gambler a major payout

LeBron James has been on a roll – since January 6, 2007, when he started clocking in at least 10 points per game. Over the years, it became known that should James were playing, he would score a minimum of ten points.

18-Year Streak Ends, Bettor Loses Thousands on -2600 Odds Bet

This has gone on for years, and it naturally gave rise to gambling markets that specifically ask bettors whether the player would miss the threshold.

For 1,297 games, LeBron James has delivered, but this changed last week when he scored only eight points in his 36 minutes on the pitch, breaking the longest-running streak in pro sports, even though his team eked out a closely-contested 123-point victory over the Toronto Raptors.

LeBron James might have prevented this by taking a risky shot in the final seconds, but he chose to pass the ball over to a teammate who secured the 3-pointer and cleared the Los Angeles Lakers’ win in a split-second final action.

However, this has also cost a bettor who had placed $15,000 at odds of -2600 on LeBrone James to continue his winning streak and win a measly $567 payout. However, the player choosing to carry over the play to his teammate meant that the gambler had lost.

Identified as br_betting on X, the bettor shared his story, but unlike hecklers who have been harassing players, the man kept a brave face on and just shared his story as a bit of anecdotal jest.

Many pro athletes have been harassed by irate online gamblers over much smaller sums, with people lashing out and even issuing death threats to players for their supposed sins in failing to deliver.

This has not just been the case in basketball, though, but also in tennis and golf, and especially in college sports.
