Las Vegas Night Club Promoter Accused of DUI, Hitting Two Adults and a Child

The woman and child, described by police only as nationals of the United Kingdom, were transported to University Medical Center, where both were diagnosed with brain bleeding

Gavin Caci, 28, a nightclub promoter in Las Vegas, is accused of causing a DUI crash involving a family visiting from the United Kingdom. Two adults and a small child were hurt in the incident.

Night Club Promoter Accused of Hitting Family With His Car

According to court records, Caci was found to have a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit. Court documents state that a preliminary blood test taken less than two hours after the crash showed Caci’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.22. In Nevada, the legal limit is 0.08.

Police reported that Caci denied using drugs or consuming alcohol. However, when asked what he had consumed and in what quantity, he responded, “Give or take one or two.” He said he had tequila at a club and later believed he was at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, but could not remember the name of the club.

During a court hearing on Wednesday, Caci entered a not guilty plea. The judge rejected his request for bail, meaning he will remain in custody until his hearing on February 25. He also faces charges that include DUI, causing substantial bodily harm, and fleeing the scene of an accident.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only case of a suspected drunk driver causing havoc in the streets of Las Vegas recently. One case from last month saw Former NBA Star Lamar Odom reportedly arrested for a DUI after he was allegedly speeding at 41 miles per hour over the speed limit.

What Happened on the Day?

Back to Caci’s case, the incident occurred on February 8, around 7:35 p.m., near Harmon Avenue and Audrie Lane just east of the Las Vegas Strip. According to an arrest report, Caci, driving his Tesla, couldn’t maintain his lane and swerved off into the sidewalk. The car then swerved back on the road, hit a Chevrolet, and again swerved onto a sidewalk. Caci then struck a woman pushing her 2-year-old daughter in a stroller, causing severe injuries to the child.

The woman and child, described by police only as nationals of the United Kingdom, were transported to University Medical Center, where both were diagnosed with brain bleeding. A third pedestrian was also struck and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Several social media profiles, including LinkedIn, identified Caci as a VIP nightclub host and liaison for the New York-based Tao Group Hospitality, which manages nightclubs in Las Vegas and other cities. Shayna O’Brien, a spokesperson for the Tao Group, confirmed that the company was aware of Caci’s arrest and stated that he was no longer employed there.
