KSA Names Jaap Wieland Third Chair of Objections Advisory Committee
With a strong background in law, Wieland will bring robust legal expertise to the team, helping it to better review regulatory issues
The Dutch gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has announced the addition of a new member to its Objections Advisory Committee. The one joining the authority is Jaap Wieland, who will serve as the committee’s third independent chair.
Wieland Will Use His Legal Experience to Handle Various Cases
According to the KSA, the appointment is effective as of July 15. Jaap Wieland, who has been named the third independent chair of the Objections Advisory Committee, will serve in the position for a period of three years, the announcement reads.
As the third independent chair of the committee, Wieland will join fellow co-chairs Adriane Koppe and Monique van Oers.
For context, the Objections Advisory Committee is tasked with reviewing industry complaints and assessing shareholders’ remarks and opinions about the regulatory framework in the Netherlands.
With a strong background in law, Wieland will bring robust legal expertise to the team, helping it to better review regulatory issues. The KSA noted that Wieland is an active lawyer who has previously served as a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Law and a lawyer at the Administrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State.
KSA Banned Illegal Affiliate Platform
A few weeks ago, the KSA took action against three companies that were found guilty of promoting unlicensed gambling platforms in the Netherlands. These included SBM Holding Group, Sun Block Media Labs 2.0 Ltd, and JEF Holdings Ltd, which faced penalty orders for their transgressions.
The case involved Casinoscout.nl, an affiliate platform that used to exclusively promote licensed platforms in the Netherlands. In 2025, however, Casinoscout.nl was acquired by new owners and that quickly changed. As a result, the website started to promote brands that were not legal in the country, thus violating the Dutch gaming rules.
Despite earlier warnings, no measures were taken to rectify the issue, prompting further regulatory action on the KSA’s part. The KSA eventually banned the platform and issued a penalty payment order against the companies behind it.
One Licensee Faces SEO-Related Troubles
In the meantime, VBet, one of KSA’s licensees, continues to face search engine-related trouble, despite being legal. The company has been unfindable on Google for quite some time, which has significantly hurt its business. To make matters worse, the relevant authorities and Google support seem to have been of little help.
VBet is now humoring the idea of involving the KSA, as no salvation appears on the horizon.
