Micallef or Elliott – More Than a Flip of the Coin

In truth, few other fighters are as closely matched and able to contest each other as are Micallef and Elliott. Both fighters bring a composed fighting style that allows them to consistently perform well.

However, they have been prone to making mistakes as well, which is the reason Micalleff’s track record is 8-1-0 and Elliott’s stands at 12-3-0. Clearly a more experienced fighter, Elliott is given slightly better odds for the weekend with (-118), but he also lost his most recent bout by KO in June.

This has upset his winning streak, but Elliott appears to be back to his old form and ready to take on his opponent. For his part, Micallef is riding a winning streak, which includes triumphs over Mohamed Ado and Kevin Jousset, so he is accustomed to taking down more experienced fighters than himself, and this is a great quality to have.

Micallef also has the experience of lasting in a fight and going the distance, as does Elliott. This means that the upcoming bout could see both fighters strive to wear down their opponent in the third round before clinching a win. A submission victory is unlikely for either fighter before that.

From a betting POV, the best wager here would be on the fight to end before the third round is out, with the odds set at +195 for under 2.5 rounds. A win for either fighter in Round 2 is very plausible, hence our prediction.

Pick: Under 2.5 (+195)
