Joe Rogan Fears Iran Might Target the UFC White House Event
Rogan said that gathering so many US officials and sports celebrities in one place is like “asking for trouble”
American podcaster Joe Rogan has expressed concerns about a potential attack on the White House. In a recent podcast, he said that he fears that Iran might target the upcoming UFC White House event set to take place at the iconic residence of the US president.
Joe Rogan Says White House Event Is Like “Asking for Trouble”
Joe Rogan’s concerns came shortly after the FBI sounded the alarm on potential Iranian drone strikes on the West Coast. While such an attack has not happened yet, the warning sparked some fears of the war coming home.
Rogan responded to these concerns, saying that the White House UFC event would be a prime target of an enemy attack, considering its unprecedented nature. As a fervent MMA enthusiast, Rogan is likely to attend the event himself and could also be impacted by any potential threats.
He acknowledged that the UFC promised to adopt cutting-edge security measures, but noted that the event is still likely to be associated with a lot of stress. Rogan also stated that it will be “weird” to have a fight at the White House “in the middle of a fucking war,” since he doubts that the war will be sorted out by June.
Rogan concluded that gathering so many US officials and sports celebrities in one place is like “asking for trouble.”
The Event Is Set to Take Place in a Few Months
For context, the UFC event on the grounds of the White House is set to take place in June, coinciding with President Donald Trump’s birthday.
The fight will temporarily transform the residence’s lawn into a fully-fledged fighting arena. The event will feature seating for some 5,000 people on the premises of the White House, while allowing up to 85,000 more people to watch the event from The Ellipse.
UFC officials will install multiple screens, allowing MMA enthusiasts not to skip a single beat while watching this most unusual event.
In the meantime, a clash for the lightweight title between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje is set to headline the UFC White House event.
