Holland Casino Donates Almost $200M to Fight Cancer

Holland Casino, a Dutch gambling group, announced that its properties have raised a six-figure sum to fight cancer. The collected money will fuel the Fight Cancer Foundation, which seeks to raise awareness of the dangers of this insidious illness and help those dealing with it.

Holland Casino Supports Fight Cancer Foundation Once Again  

In its official announcement, Holland Casino confirmed that its properties in Scheveningen, Breda, Nijmegen, Venlo, Valkenburg and Eindhoven have raised a total of EUR 167,904 ($197,253) for the initiative.

The gaming company elaborated that most of this money was donated by guests via donation boxes. In addition to that, all leftover tickets, cash, and chips were automatically entered into this funding pool, increasing the money raised for the initiative.

That’s not all, however, as employees of Holland Casinos’ gaming establishments also participated in various initiatives to raise money for the war on cancer. To that end, many participated in local editions of initiatives, such as Swim to Fight Cancer.

The Foundation Provides Relief to Cancer Patients

As mentioned, the money raised by Holland Casino’s various branches has now been sent to the Fight Cancer Foundation. The foundation’s mission, as its title suggests, is to conduct cancer research, raise awareness, support local initiatives, and help people struggling with cancer.

In addition to that, Fight Cancer Foundation remains committed to donating machines that provide patients with relief during intensive treatments.

The money raised by Holland Casino will underpin Fight Cancer Foundation’s initiatives, allowing it to intensify its efforts and help more people dealing with this illness. This is not the first time Holland Casino has supported the foundation either – the casino company’s employees and branches have a long-term commitment to backing this initiative and making sure that Dutch people have access to the relief and support they need.

Joost Reijns, director of the Fight Cancer Foundation, thanked Holland Casino for its continued commitment, saying that the extra money will help his organization increase the positive impact on cancer patients.

Dutch Casinos Face Headwinds

In other news, recent data by the Kansspelautoriteit suggested that the Netherlands’ land-based casino sector is experiencing significant setbacks. The latest Market Scan showed that GGR from land-based casinos fell by EUR 61 million (about $70.6 million), suggesting increased pressure.

One of the chief reasons for the decline of gambling halls was Dutch players’ increasing preference for online casinos.
