Hard Rock Sets Sights on UAE with Ras Al Khaimah Project

Although the press release contained no mention of a casino, opportunities could potentially arise, depending on the future of Wynn’s efforts in the region

The Hard Rock hotel franchise is set to debut in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) thanks to a new agreement between db Group and RAK Hospitality Holding. The new project will result in the creation of a new mixed-use property in Ras Al Khaimah’s beach district.

According to the announcement, the new property will have 300 rooms and 395 branded residences, allowing it to accommodate hundreds of guests. The hotel will feature a variety of restaurants, waterfront dining, a rooftop bar, and other facilities, such as an event center, conference area, a spa and fitness center, a beach club, and multiple swimming pools.

In addition to that, the property will create approximately 500 permanent job opportunities, providing an important economic stimulus to the area.

The Property Will Become a Catalyst for Growth

Representatives commented on the new development, providing further insights into their plans. Hard Rock International’s vice president and head of global hotel development, Todd Hricko, said that he was looking forward to delivering the excellence Hard Rock is known for to customers in the UAE.

This development will open new doors for the Hard Rock global traveler in a destination with rich history and nature to explore.

Silvio Debono, chair of db Group, was likewise pleased with the initiative, which will be his company’s first major outside of Malta. He said that the project will pair his team’s experience in hospitality with Hard Rock’s unique spirit to deliver a “truly unique lifestyle experience on the shores of Ras Al Khaimah.”

Last but not least, Alison Grinnel, CEO of RAK Hospitality Holding, vowed to leverage her team’s understanding of the region to create a new catalyst for growth in Ras Al Khaimah, which is shaping up to become a “dynamic hub for tourism, leisure, and entertainment.”

No Mention of Gaming Yet

Although the press release contained no mention of a casino, the possibility of one being added later shouldn’t be ruled out completely either. While casino gaming remains a contentious topic in the UAE, lawmakers seem to have warmed up toward the idea of exploring new opportunities in gaming.

Wynn Resorts, in particular, has remained hellbent on getting approval for a casino at its upcoming Ras Al Khaimah property. Scheduled to open in 2027, the resort is yet another property developed with the help of RAK Hospitality Holding.

In the meantime, Dubai has already prepared to give gaming a chance, with Light & Wonder being one of the most recent B2B providers to secure a license.
