An elderly woman spent about 50 years of her life playing the lottery, and good fortune has finally struck with the anonymous winner scooping up the prize of a lifetime, securing an AUD 1,260,098.55 jackpot or about $843,700.
This is the second similar jackpot in Australia in as many days, with the winner also based in Melbourne, and part of a five-winning entry for a grand jackpot from the TattsLotto draw 4661, which took place on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Much like the other winners, the elderly woman was completely surprised by her spot of good luck, communicating with the lottery her excitement. The amount will go a long way to help her finish some stuff around the house, as well as support her family, she told the TattsLotto.
The ticket was bout at Ormond News and Lotto, Shop 1 at 491 North Road in Ormond, and is part of a string of serious wins secured by people around Australia in the fateful weekend draw.
“What! Are you joking?! One point two million dollars! Darling, you better not be joking me,” the woman told the lottery, relating her excitement to officials, adding: “You’ve made an old lady very happy! I’m in my eighties, and I’ve been playing for over 50 years.”
The woman will also allocate part of the money to get her health in order, and joked about telling her doctor the good news. The other confirmed winners who have stepped forward to claim the same prize are a couple from Melbourne.
The husband woke up to the good news and had to rush after his wife, who was just about to board a plane.
