GAMSTOP Reports Spike in Registrations, Unveils Auto-Renewal Option
GAMSTOP confirmed that the new service was developed in response to the popular demand for lifetime self-exclusion

GAMSTOP, Britain’s national self-exclusion program, has published its latest report, highlighting a record-breaking number of registrations for the start of 2025. As registrations spiked in the holidays’ aftermath, the company unveiled a new auto-renewal self-exclusion option.
GAMSTOP Registrations Soared in January
GAMSTOP, which has offered its exclusion services since 2018, said that it hit a new daily record on January 1, 2025, when 415 new people signed up. On the next day, another 413 new registrants joined the platform. On January 6, 396 more people joined the program.
This spike in registrations showed that risky gambling continues to be a problem in the United Kingdom. For context, GAMSTOP has, since its inception, helped over half a million people. Many of the people signing up for its services have seen an improvement in their habits, with many opting to renew their exclusion.
Some consumers have regretted that there is not a lifetime option and admitted that they start to feel nervous when their self-exclusion period nears its end. For context, GAMSTOP’s self-exclusion currently remains active for up to seven years after the expiration of the original period, unless players ask for it to be revoked.
An Auto-Renewal Option Was Introduced
In line with its ongoing efforts to help riskier players, GAMSTOP introduced a new 5 years auto-renewal option. GAMSTOP confirmed that the new service was developed in response to the popular demand for lifetime self-exclusion.
This means that players will have their self-exclusion automatically continued, protecting them from harm in the long term. The feature is currently live and can be activated by customers who have opted to exclude themselves from gambling for 5 years. Consumers will be able to opt out of the auto-renewal if they wish.
In the meantime, GAMSTOP vowed to send email reminders to players every 15 months, allowing them to stay aware of their upcoming expiration and renewal dates.
CEO Palmer Vowed to Protect Players in the UK from Harm
Fiona Palmer, the chief executive officer of GAMSTOP, commented on the matter, praising her team’s efforts to help Brits get their gambling habits under control. While she was happy with GAMSTOP’s progress, she noted that there is still more to do.
Our goal is to provide consumers with tools and options that empower them to take control of their gambling activity. As such, we’re consistently listening to feedback and evaluating the effectiveness of our service.
Fiona Palmer, CEO, GAMSTOP
Palmer added that GAMSTOP listened to the consumers who wanted longer exclusion periods and called the launch of the auto-renewal option an “important step in ensuring consumers’ peace of mind.”
