Other New Jersey News and Developments
In the meantime, New Jersey’s fight against controversial sweepstakes operators continued with a new bill seeking to prohibit the vertical. Senate Bill 4282, which secured approval by the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism, & Historic Preservation Committee, specifically targets businesses that run sweepstakes-style gambling platforms and bans sweepstakes games that offer prizes in exchange for payment, either directly or through virtual currencies.
More recently, a group of Atlantic City casino workers continued the fight against indoor smoking, which has remained one of the most hotly discussed topics in the state. While casino workers have largely agreed that casinos should not make them choose between their paychecks and their health, industry stakeholders have remained adamant that they do not wish to end indoor smoking since it could undermine their profits and jeopardize the industry.
