Ex-NBA Star Seen in Vegas after Recent DUI, Refuses to Talk About It
A former professional basketball player was seen in a restaurant in Las Vegas only days after police charged him with a DUI
Only a week after his DUI arrest, the 46-year-old Lamar Odom, a former NBA star, returned to Vegas. This Saturday, he was promoting and endorsing his new drink, “Odom 7,” at the C3 Lounge.
The restaurant is located on South Decatur Boulevard near West Sahara Avenue. Odom told this to the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “I’m just here to keep it positive.” The former basketball pro refused to comment on his recent arrest.
The Night of the Arrest
On January 17, Odom was pulled over on a Las Vegas freeway by police for going over the speed limit. He was going at 106 mph, which is more than 41mph over the speed limit.
A few days later, he stated that he had not been drinking nor had he taken any drugs on the night of his arrest.
Contrary to that, the arrest reports state that Odom failed several sobriety tests, he was allegedly found in his car with bloodshot eyes, and the inside of the vehicle smelled of marijuana.
When first questioned by police, he claimed that his passenger had been smoking and that he didn’t smoke. Later, he admitted to having smoked pot that day at around 4 pm.
The two-time NBA champion is currently facing a list of charges, the main one being a misdemeanor charge of DUI, with the other charges being driving more than 41mph over the limit and improper lane change/failure to maintain lane. His court date has been set for March 17.
Previous History of Addiction
Lamar Odom’s past struggles with both alcohol and drug addiction are a well-known fact. This is also not the first time he has been arrested for a DUI; the last time was in 2013.
Ever since the former basketball star’s overdose in 2015, he appeared to have turned his life around, even helping others overcome their addictions by investing in rehabilitation centers.
Odom’s addiction was so serious that, alongside the infidelity and lying, it became another reason for his wife at the time, Khloe Kardashian, to file for divorce.
