DAZN Bet Looks to North America as Ontario Expansion on the Cards

The popular sports betting company, an offshoot of its namesake media and streaming company, is making a play for one of the most competitive iGaming and betting markets in North America

DAZN Bet has secured entry into Ontario, with the company receiving the go-ahead from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, although no immediate launch date has been confirmed just yet. As a result, DAZN Bet will be able to deliver both its gaming and sports betting products locally.

DAZN Bet will be launching in collaboration with Pragmatic Group and will build the DAZN Group’s live sports streaming directly into the bookmaker. A launch date has not yet been set as DAZN Bet needs to thrash out final details with iGaming Ontario.

Not much other information has been released about the company’s further plans in the country and North America, although Alberta – another Canadian province – has put forward plans to legalize its own iGaming and sports betting, which could offer a fresh opportunity for DAZN Bet.

As to the United States, DAZN Bet has mostly remained shy of exploring an entry into the market. DAZN Bet is currently only operational in the United Kingdom.

The company has been enjoying a strong uptake of its gaming and betting products in the jurisdictions, and has ventured beyond that in places such as Germany and Spain, maintaining a European footprint, and falling short of a more ambitious move into the United States.

Meanwhile, the media and streaming company is already present in Canada through DAZN Canada, which launched in 2017, and it sells the NFL Game Pass in the country exclusively.

Integrating the ecosystem further in Ontario through the arrival of DAZN Bet is a welcome and strategic move for the business, while also giving fans a more diverse experience.
