Cromwell to Close Nearly Two Months for Vanderpump Revamp
Caesars will fully close the Cromwell from mid-February to April as it finishes turning the Strip property into the Vanderpump Hote
Caesars Entertainment has quietly changed course on what it promised would be a smooth transition for the Cromwell.
The “first standalone boutique hotel on the famed Strip” that opened its gates as The Cromwell in 2014 after many years of being known as Bill’s Gambling Hall & Saloon and the Barbary Coast will close completely for nearly two months as it’s reworked into the Vanderpump Hotel.
Booking System Hints at New Decision
The shutdown of the venue that received the prestigious Travel Guide Recommended Award from Forbes, however, comes against earlier suggestions that the property would stay open during the renovation.
According to Caesars’ own reservation system, the property will shut down from February 15 through April 13, as rooms are no longer available to book during that window.
While Caesars itself has not yet made an official statement, the booking blackout makes their plans pretty clear.
During most of that period, only limited parts of the property will stay accessible. The casino floor and Giada, the hotel’s lone restaurant, are expected to remain open through the final stretch of construction. Everything else, however, will be dark while crews finish the transformation.
What to Expect
From the outside, visitors should not expect a dramatic visual overhaul. According to permit filings with Clark County, along with renderings shared by the Five Hundy by Midnight podcast, the building will largely stay the same, aside from new signage and branding
tied to businesswoman, TV personality, author, and philanthropist Lisa Vanderpump.
Visible changes will be primarily focused on the interior, with the operator outlining its redesign plans in March, with new check-in and bar areas, a full refresh of all 188 guest rooms, 19 revamped suites, and a brand new lounge at the center.
The project marks Vanderpump’s first move into the hotel business after years of partnering with Caesars on restaurants around Las Vegas. Those collaborations already include Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars Palace, Vanderpump à Paris at Paris Las Vegas, and Pinky’s by Vanderpump at Flamingo.
Vanderpump will oversee the Cromwell revamp next to designer Nick Alain. Under the licensing deal, Vanderpump will also be required to make at least one annual appearance for promotional purposes.
If everything stays on schedule, April 13 is expected to be the opening day for the Vanderpump Hotel. While Caesars has not yet confirmed that date, since it falls on a Monday, a preview or a VIP event could also take place the prior weekend.
Once it reopens, the Vanderpump will represent the third identity for the property at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
