Connecticut Resident Arrested After Standoff With Police at Foxwoods Resort Casino
After a several hour long standoff with law enforcement suspect David Griswold has finally been arrested
A man has been detained at the Foxwoods Resort Casino after a long standoff with local law enforcement this Monday.
David R. Griswold, a 40-year-old man from Connecticut, has been arrested and is currently being charged with multiple crimes.
After a call had reported possible violence in the resort casino, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police Department dispatched officers to the scene.
This is what the Guest who called the police had told Dispatch what he had seen :
“a girl crawling down the hallway in distress”
The reported hostages, having been released in the morning, have not received any notable injuries.
There have been no other mentions of victims.
Other nearby Law enforcement had also responded to the call, such as the Connecticut State Police and the Ledyard Police Department
The time taken to apprehend Griswold by the SWAT teams has been marked at six hours.
The casino has made the following statement as to what the suspect did:
“unlawfully restrained two people before quickly releasing them”
Griswold’s bail has been set at $1 mil, while his bond has been set at $500,000, and until either is paid, he is to remain in custody.
Multiple Serious Charges
Multiple charges have been brought against Griswold.
The discovery of two firearms has been reported by police officers at the scene, which has led to a first-degree reckless endangerment charge.
Griswold himself has reportedly admitted to using heroin and crack cocaine, which, combined with the firearms, has gotten him charged with carrying a firearm while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
For allegedly holding two girls hostage, he has been faced with two charges of unlawful restraint as well as two charges of first-degree assault.
And after the standoff, Griswold has additionally been charged with breach of police and interfering with police.
Keeping it Quiet
Room 16-101 on the 16th floor of the Foxwoods Casino Resort is where the incident took place.
Despite the matter taking place in the resort, Foxwoods had successfully kept the matter, as it was developing, quiet.
Little of what had led to the situation in the first place has been uncovered.
