Circa Owner Wants Canadians to Come Back, Offers 1:1 Exchange Rate
Given the current geopolitical context, reactions to the unorthodox promotion could vary from “good bargain” to “insultingly cheeky”
Derek Stevens may be a man for politics, but he doesn’t show it, and he is certainly willing to make peace and let bygones be bygones.
The owner of the Circa, Golden Gate, and the D is now hoping to appease Canadians, while admitting their indelible role in the Las Vegas economy, by offering a slightly cheeky promotion.
Canadians Have Every Reason to Avoid the US, But Las Vegas Objects
Come to Vegas and swap your CAD into USD for an exact exchange rate of 1:1. Now, this is a bargain.
The new promotion, called “At Par,” doesn’t mean to pull at patriotic heartstrings, but rather offer a hard, cold logic – it’s extra money that eligible customers may use on select gaming, hotel, and beverage offerings at Stevens’ properties.
In a sense, Stevens argues that offering steep discounts to Canadians is worth appeasing the northern neighbors who have not taken kindly to the policy spearheaded by a quasi-anarchist White House under the stewardship of now twice-elected President Donald Trump.
Stevens, though, believes his campaign, paired with speaking from the heart, would make all the difference Las Vegas needs to help lure back Canadians. In a statement, he argued:
“Canada has always been a part of my story, so I feel a deep connection to our Canadian visitors here in Las Vegas. My father went to the University of Toronto, and I was raised in Grosse Pointe, Mich., where our home looked straight across the Detroit River toward Windsor.”
Nothing Like a No-Strings Bargain to Make Up
Stevens insists that there are no strings attached. Want to come for the drinks or gaming only, but stay somewhere else? You are more than welcome, as “At Par” is designed to grant Canucks full autonomy over how they spend their dollars.
Stevens hopes that Canucks will be able to look past their objections to US foreign policy and flock back to Las Vegas.
“At Par is about honoring that connection and removing unnecessary barriers, making sure Canadian visitors feel just as welcome downtown as they always have, without worrying about exchange rates, fine print, or doing the math at the cage,” the executive wrapped up.
