Carlos Ulberg Favored by Bookies

Carlos Ulberg has built a reputation as one of the most dangerous strikers at 205. The New Zealand fighter owns a 12-1 MMA record, backed by a 19-2 run in professional kickboxing.

No surprise then that his biggest weapon is on the feet. Ulberg throws in volume, averaging 6.77 significant strikes per minute, the highest mark among active UFC light heavyweights.

The power is there too. Seven of his 12 MMA wins came via knockout, and in kickboxing, he finished 12 of his 19 victims.

The downside? He’s hittable. Ulberg absorbs 4.21 strikes a minute, and against a sharpshooter like Dominic Reyes, that could be a real problem.

Reyes Hoping to Continue His Resurrection

Dominick Reyes stormed into the UFC with a 12-0 record and earned a title shot in 2020. The catch? He had to face Jon Jones. Many saw it as the toughest fight of Jones’ career, but Reyes still lost on the scorecards. That marked the start of a skid: three straight defeats before he stepped away for nearly two years.

However, since returning in 2024, “The Devastator” has looked reborn. He’s 3-0, with highlight finishes over Nikita Krylov and Dustin Jacoby, needing just a handful of strikes to get the job done.

Against Anthony Smith, he showed he can grind too, landing a career-high 121 significant strikes en route to a TKO. Quick kill or drawn-out war, Reyes has the tools to shut anyone down.

Carlos Ulberg vs. Dominick Reyes Prediction

They’re both strikers with insane kickboxing skills, with Ulberg probably being a bit better from a technical point of view. However, when it comes to fight IQ, it’s Reyes who’s got the advantage. He’s got a killer instinct, as well as the experience for these sorts of fights. On top of everything, he’s super motivated to get another shot at the title.

This is the kind of a Rocky Balboa story we’d love to see, and we honestly think it’s possible to come true. That’s why we’re backing “The Devastator” to get a win in Perth.

Pick: Dominick Reyes
