Carl Ejlertsson Resigns as Octoplay CEO, Ralitsa Georgieva Takes Over
As the company's momentum continued, Ejlertsson decided that it was the right time to step out of the role
Carl Ejlertsson, the founder of online casino games specialist Octoplay, announced that he will be stepping down as CEO. However, he will still remain on board, now focusing on the creative side of the business instead.
Ejlertsson “Gets Back to What He Loves”
In a post on LinkedIn, Ejlertsson reflected on how far Octoplay has come in the three years after its founding. While the company started small, the conviction of its team helped it make a growing presence in key European and North American markets. Now boasting some 15 licenses across the two continents and a portfolio of 200+ games, Octoplay remains ambitious in pursuing further growth.
As the momentum continued, Ejlertsson decided that it was the right time to step out of the role.
Octoplay has reached a stage where execution, commercial scale, and operational leadership are paramount, and the company now requires a CEO whose focus is fully aligned with that mission.

Ejlertsson Listed Additional Leadership Changes
In the meantime, Octoplay will welcome Ralitsa Georgieva as its new CEO. Ejlertsson noted that she has already contributed a lot to the company’s growth and lauded her integrity, commercial instinct, and leadership. The outgoing CEO noted that he has “complete confidence” in the new CEO appointee and that “there’s no one better suited to lead Octoplay.”
In addition to Georgieva’s appointment as CEO, Ejlertsson listed a few other additions to the Octoplay family. These included the addition of Jack Bailey as commercial director, the promotion of Conor Leavey from advisor to a full-time role as chief product officer, the promotion of Martina Borg Stevens to chief legal officer, and the promotion of Nicola Vella to chief finance officer.
Ejlertsson added that the listed people have been instrumental in turning Octoplay into the company it is today. He added that he will be pleased to continue working with them, while switching to a role he would be more comfortable with: “To everyone who’s been part of this journey so far: thank you. I’m not going anywhere. I’m just getting back to doing what I love most.”
