California Lottery Obtains Global RG Certification
One of the nation’s largest lotteries has received a distinction that burnishes its social responsibility credentials once again
The Californian Lottery has announced that it has obtained the highest possible international accreditation given to a lottery operator for its responsible gambling commitments and strategy.
California’s Lottery Gains Highest RG Accreditation
The award was handed down to the lottery by the World Lottery Association or WLA, which has distinguished the California Lottery as a Level Four entity, part of the WLA Responsible Gaming Framework.
This accreditation is subject to reassessment every several years, with the current award lasting through August 2028, when the WLA will have to once again go through the available data and information to determine if the recipient has maintained its best practices that distinguished it for the award for the first time.
The California Lottery is also the first US-based lottery to have achieved the WLA’s Level Four distinction, establishing itself as the most forward-thinking and impactful lottery operator in the nation when it comes to responsible gambling practices.
California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima welcomed the news and what it meant for the operator of lottery products, as well as its players.
“Our World Lottery Association certifications reflect our unwavering commitment to responsible gaming and player protection. It is a commitment California’s public schools count on so we can provide supplemental funds to support students across our state.”
California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima
With the California Lottery playing a huge part in backing local initiatives, including the state’s public schools, from kindergarten to community college, as well as the California State University and University of California, the operator has played a key role in helping advance meaningful and impactful initiatives.
The Lottery has habitually minted jackpot winners, with a recent win awarding $4.6 million to one lucky player after they missed the Mega Millions jackpot earlier this week.
