CA Player Takes Home $2M After Narrowly Missing Powerball Jackpot
In the meantime, a dozen players managed to match four white numbers and the Powerball to win the third-tier prize
The Saturday Powerball drawing awarded a prize of a million dollars to a lucky player from California, but the game’s top prize remained elusive. This comes after a day earlier Mega Millions players also failed to get the jackpot.
The Drawing Had Not Big Winner
The Saturday, February 21, results show that no one succeeded in matching all six winning numbers. For context, the five white numbers for the drawing were 27, 28, 36, 48, and 49. The Powerball, on the other hand, was 21.
Matching all numbers correctly would have meant a $190 million payday for a lucky player, if the winner chose the annuity. The cash value of the game’s top prize as of the Saturday drawing, on the other hand, was $88.7 million.
As mentioned, a single player in California succeeded in matching all five white numbers to get the game’s second-tier prize of $1 million. If they had the Power Play feature active, they could have won $2 million instead.
In the meantime, a dozen players managed to match four white numbers and the Powerball. Ten of them did not have the Power Play feature active and will get $50,000 each, while two others did have the feature active and will get $200,000 each, instead.
Since no one won the big prize, the unclaimed jackpot continued to grow and has now passed the $200 million mark. Official Powerball data lists the current prize as $203 million with a cash value of $94.6 million.
The next Powerball drawing is set to take place on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Tennessee Player Won $2M from Powerball
In other news, a player in Tennessee recently won a $2 million prize after narrowly missing the jackpot. The player guessed all numbers but the Powerball. If they had correctly guessed the Powerball, too, they would have won $169 million.
A few weeks ago, the recent Powerball winner came forward to claim their prize. The player in question won $209.3 million from one of the drawings held in January and opted to take the lump sum, rather than the annuity. As a result, they got $68.6 million after taxes.
