Black Eyed Peas Give Up LV Residency Due to “Current Circumstances”
Las Vegas Strip headliners Black Eyed Peas have announced they would cancel their residency, using “current circumstances” as an explanation
The Black Eyed Peas, a Los Angeles group composed of rappers Will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo, have paused their much-anticipated Las Vegas residency.
The trio disappointed fans by announcing the cancellation of their upcoming shows at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s PH Live.
The Decision Came “in Light of Current Circumstances”
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the group addressed their fans, known as “Peabodies,” saying, “It is with a heavy heart that, in light of current circumstances, our Las Vegas shows will not be moving forward as planned. Ticket providers will issue full refunds automatically. Stay tuned for updates on future performances by following us — we can’t wait to see you again.”
The residency, “Black Eyed Peas: 3008 The Las Vegas Experience,” was to feature 15 shows over three separate blocks from February to May.
Originally announced in September with an ambitious and futuristic theme, the residency promised a bold reinvention of the live concert experience.
Will.i.am then described it as an opportunity for the band to push creative boundaries.
“Our first residency in Las Vegas allows Black Eyed Peas to do what we do best, to dream up something brand new and creative that pushes the boundaries of the live show experience,” he commented.
Vida, the Group’s AI Member
One of the most exciting elements of the show was the inclusion of Vida, an artificial intelligence member of the Black Eyed Peas.
Unlike traditional holograms, Vida would have been fully interactive, capable of engaging with the band, crew, and even the audience before, during, and after the show.
“When we have an AI member of the Black Eyed Peas, you can engage and communicate 24/7,” Will.i.am told USA Today.
“It’s going to be the most interactive pre, during, and post-show experience, and if there is a place to have that experience, it’s going to be in Vegas,” the seven-time Grammy winner said.
Reflecting on the journey, Will.i.am noted the significance of their achievements, saying, “When I was running around the projects as a kid in L.A., and Apple was running around in the Philippines, to think that we would have the first AI member of a globally recognized urban pop-hip-hop group… man.”
Fans will now have to wait for updates on rescheduled performances or future projects from the innovative group.
Last October, rapper 50 Cent announced his first-ever Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood Live. The six-show deal brought him $15 million.
Madonna, Adele, and Kelly Clarkson are other big musicians who are no strangers to the iconic Las Vegas residencies, having performed there in 2023 and 2024.
