The trio joined forces for a new alliance that will address issues related to illegal gambling, innovation, security and responsible gaming, among other gambling-related challenges

The European Casino Association (ECA), the American Gaming Association (AGA) and the Betting & Gaming Council (BGC) confirmed the signing of a new memorandum of understanding (MOU).
The Trio Will Address a Range of Challenges
The freshly signed MOU marks the beginning of a collaboration that is expected to address gambling industry challenges, focus on priorities and engage in research, among other initiatives that would be vital for the future of the sector. Notably, the three organizations will see their teams and experts effectively collaborate and share best practices.
Thanks to the newly signed MOU, ECA, AGA and the BGC will engage in joint research initiatives, helping their experts continue to grow and gain invaluable knowledge and experience while sharing their expertise. Under the MOU commitment, ECA, AGA and BGC will focus on a range of important issues directly related to the gambling industry. The list includes challenges related to:
- Security
- Responsible gaming
- Innovation
- Illegal gambling
The trio’s first initiative will focus on illegal gambling. Representatives of the three organizations will schedule a roundtable in January 2025, where they will meet with law enforcement, regulators, stakeholders and industry leaders to discuss the way illegal gambling vertical impacts the legal sector. Additionally, the roundtable will discuss methods and strategies on how to strengthen inter-jurisdictional communication and create effective solutions to address challenges related to illegal gambling.
The Collaboration Brings Excitement to Each of the Organizations
Grainne Hurst, BGC’s CEO, spoke about the importance of the new collaboration, revealing that it represents a “shared vision to build a world-class, trusted and sustainable betting and gaming industry.” She predicted that the shared knowledge, effective collaboration and exceptional expertise each of the organizations brings will help address challenges within the sector and combat illegal gambling.
Erwin van Lambaart, ECA’s chairman, added: “The European Casino Association stands united with the AGA and BGC in its commitment to addressing the key issues facing all gaming industry stakeholders.” Similarly to Hurst, he was also optimistic about the result of the new collaboration. In conclusion, ECA’s chairman said that he is looking forward to joining the upcoming round table.
“By fostering dialogue and cooperation across borders, the AGA, ECA, and BGC are taking a proactive approach to safeguarding the integrity of the legal gaming industry and ensuring its continued growth and success.“
Bill Miller, president and CEO at AGA
Bill Miller, AGA’s president and CEO, predicted that the new MOU will benefit the legal gambling sector, while at the same time protecting customers from all parts of the world. Finally, Miller outlined that the collaboration would help strengthen the efforts against illegal gambling, improve responsible gaming and benefit the legal sector with best practices.
