BetMGM Appoints Former MGM Chief Corporate Counsel Hagopian

BetMGM, the sports betting brand of the joint venture of GVC Holdings and MGM Resorts, Roar Digital, announced Thursday a new addition to its executive team, as Andrew Hagopian, former Chief Corporate Counsel of MGM Resorts, is joining as its Chief Legal Officer.
Responsible for Legal and Compliance Departments
Hagopian, who holds a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, will be tasked to oversee BetMGM’s legal and compliance departments and his line of report will be directly to the company’s CEO Adam Greenblatt.
“Andrew’s deep industry experience, and proven ability to build and lead a world-class legal team, will serve BetMGM well as we continue to grow rapidly in a dynamic industry.”
Adam Greenblatt, CEO, BetMGM
Hagopian Instrumental for BetMGM
The former Chief Corporate Counsel of MGM Resorts International had a key role in establishing the collaboration between GVC Holdings and MGM in 2018 to create the sports betting brand.
At MGM Andrew Hagopian was responsible for all legal aspects of gaming regulatory matters, property operations, joints ventures, corporate transactions, sports and entertainment, development, intellectual property, data privacy, corporate governance, securities, finance and enterprise contracts, as he led a team of attorneys and other professionals.
“BetMGM resides at the intersection of technology and gaming. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage my industry and transactional experience at a fast-moving company in a complex, regulated environment where a strong continued commitment to excellence in compliance will be essential to our success.”

Corporate Law and Governance Experience
Andrew Hagopian was also an attorney at a top-tier international law firm Gibson Dunn, where he was a member of the corporate transactions and securities practice group. Being legal representatives for many Fortune 100 companies, the law firm allowed Hagopian to gain experience by participating in complex merger and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, as well as advise public companies on matters regarding securities laws and governance.
Andrew Hagopian joins BetMGM’s executive team during times when the sports betting brand continues to expand operations and recently launched its sports betting app in a seventh US state, Tennessee, having already established its presence in Colorado, Indiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, and West Virginia.
Prior to the launch of its mobile app in the state, BetMGM entered into a partnership deal with the state franchise from the National Football League (NFL), Tennessee Titans. BetMGM became an official sports betting partner of the professional football team, marking the first official partnership between a professional sports team and a betting platform in the state.
