Betfair Australia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crown Resorts, has announced plans to roll out a fixed odds sportsbook that will run under the name of CrownBet, establishing a new betting major.
CrownBet Set to Make a Return in Australia as BetMakers and Betfair Ready for the Launch
The idea, based on Inside Asia Gaming’s reporting, is to scale Betfair Australia’s footprint in the country and provide local sports fans with even more opportunities to place a wager on the outcome of events, while also timing it to major sporting events, such as the Australian Football League and the National Rugby League.
Betfair CEO Amy Zavros has welcomed the opportunity, as has Crown Resorts CEO David Tsai.
“This move allows Betfair and CrownBet to serve customers seeking fixed odds, while continuing to champion the unique benefits of the Betfair betting exchange. This new offering reinforces Betfair’s commitment to growth and customer choice,” Zavros was reported saying.
Tsai was similarly pleased with the opportunity to see the company take another step forward in expanding the reach of its products.
“CrownBet is a familiar brand in the online wagering market. This move aligns with Crown’s broader growth strategy – focusing on entertainment offerings and new revenue streams,” he added.
To see the launch go smoothly and effortlessly, CrownBet will be launched with technical support from BetMakers Technology Group.
The company will bring its end-to-end solution, which will make for an easy start for the new sportsbook while also incorporating BetMakers’ established and market-leading trading and risk services, along with a content engine.
