Bet Right Hit With $8,700 Fine in Australia, Following RG Shortcoming
The prominent operator was issued a small financial penalty associated with the company’s failure to act in a particular case involving a vulnerable and at-risk consumer

The Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission (NTRWC) has issued a fine against Bet Right. The bookmaker has been ordered to pay AUD 13,430, or around $8,700, linked to a breach of its responsible gambling policies and the state’s requirements for ensuring that consumers are shielded from potential harm.
Bet Right Hit with Penalty Over RG Failure That Happened Three Years Ago
Bet Right is accused of failing to follow up on an intervention it initiated for a consumer back in 2022, but never completed, supposedly because the original email ended up in the person’s junk folder. The bookmaker failed to contact the person another way, which has prompted a review, investigation, and, three years after the fact, a financial penalty.
Bet Right was also facing a demand from the consumer to repay their losses, but the regulator said that the complaint was meritless and therefore struck it down. The case was brought to the regulator’s attention following an investigation by ABC’s Four Corners program, which used the case in its reporting, while also insisting that regulators and lawmakers have grown too close to the industry and have been failing to apply adequate measures.
Australia is one of the world’s most gambling nations, but the penalties issued against the sector have often been described as “feeble,” including by ABC’s investigative program, which has accused lawmakers and regulators of not nearly passing sufficient measures
