Bay Mills Resort & Casino Halted Its Gaming Operation Due to Roof Collapse

Bay Mills Resort & Casino, a tribal gaming property in Brimley, Michigan, has reported a partial roof collapse leading to the temporary shutdown of the gaming floor. The casino has since reopened, although the affected area remains closed.

The Gaming Hall Was Temporarily Closed Due to the Collapse

In its announcement on January 7, 2025, the Bay Mills Indian Community reported a partial roof collapse at Sacy’s Restaurant, one of the restaurants at the property. Luckily, no one was harmed in the collapse.

The Bay Mills Indian Community emphasized that law enforcement, EMS, and the fire department were called immediately to investigate the collapse and make sure everyone was safe. Experts soon determined that the collapse may be related to broken roof trusses.  

Due to the collapse, Bay Mills Indian Community opted to close Sacy’s Restaurant and evacuate its gaming floor. Guests and employees were kindly asked to report to the Back Bay Grill & Games.

The Casino Reopened a Few Hours Later

Not too long after the initial announcement, the casino’s official Facebook page confirmed the reopening of the casino floor. However, officials emphasized that certain areas remain inaccessible due to the collapse. These include the hallway leading to Sacy’s Restaurant and the restaurant itself.

Guests were also told to use the walkway when traveling between the main casino floor and the hotel.

While the casino floor resumed its work, the collapse led to the cancellation of the Comedy Club event that was set to take place tomorrow. The event was rescheduled for January 16 instead.

The Incident Was Followed by Several Big Wins

Despite the roof collapse, players continued to enjoy Bay Mills Resort & Casino’s gaming offerings, leading to several big prizes for the night. According to the property’s official announcement, four players won big on the same day the roof above Sacy’s Restaurant collapsed.

The winners included a Huff n’ More Puff player who won $15,610.76, a Game King player who secured $5,834.61, a Buffalo Gold Collection player who scooped up a prize of $4,698, and a Dragon Link Panda Magic player who took home $3,700.

The casino thanked its patrons for their trust, patience, and understanding despite the earlier emergency.
