Atlas SEO Closes Office, Putting 50 Jobs at Risk

Staff members were informed that the closure is due to “financial pressures” faced by Atlas SEO in the UK

Atlas SEO, a digital marketing agency based in Norwich, United Kingdom, is set to close its office less than two years after its acquisition by Gentoo Media, a Malta-based affiliate marketing powerhouse. The closure potentially jeopardizes 50 jobs, which might be declared redundant by the parent company.

The Company Faced Difficulties in the UK

GiG Media acquired Atlas SEO’s owner, Titan, in 2024, at around the same time it rebranded as Gentoo Media. Since then, the Norwich-based agency has been part of the broader Gentoo business.

However, Atlas SEO is now closing, according to company leaders who made the announcement at a meeting on Thursday. Staff members were informed that the closure is due to “financial pressures” faced by Atlas SEO in the UK.

According to the BBC, the workers were told about the closure suddenly, leaving some of them in tears. At the meeting, workers were told they could go straight home.

At the same time, the chief executive officer opened a bar tab at Rooftop Gardens, the bar on the top floor of the building where Atlas SEO’s office is located, which had allegedly reached GBP 3,000 by launchtime.

No Final Decision Has Been Made Yet

Jonas Warrer, Gentoo Media’s chief executive officer, elaborated that Atlas SEO had been facing headwinds in the UK and had long been fighting to stabilize its business. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen at the pace the leadership hoped, leading to the difficult decision to close the office.

Warrer added that the company has now entered into a “collective redundancy consultation process.” Since Atlas SEO employed roughly 50 people, this means that that many jobs are now in peril.

Warrer confirmed that all roles were considered at risk, but added that no final decisions have been made yet.

He vaguely noted that Gentoo Media is currently exploring alternatives and apologized for the uncertainty this development has created for Atlas SEO’s workers. Warrer emphasized that his team remains committed to engaging employees “openly and fairly” throughout the consultation period.

Until that process is finalized, Gentoo Media will refrain from discussing any numbers.
