Our 2025 Dog Surfing Championships prediction is that the contest at Linda Mar Beach near San Francisco is going to be paw-some. Read this betting preview to see which dog we think will win on August 2

We seem to have a talent for entertainment betting. A few weeks ago, we correctly predicted that Joey Chestnut was going to win the 2025 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Okay, that’s not much of a surprise, but we also got that Patrick Bertolleti was going to finish second.

Now, we have some even more interesting picks in mind. What we’re talking about is the picks for the 2025 Dog Surfing Championships, a contest scheduled for Saturday, August 2, at Linda Mar Beach in Northern California.

2025 Dog Surfing Odds Favor a Pup Called Cacau

The reason why Cacau should be your top 2025 Dog Surfing pick is that the chocolate Labrador is the defending champ. She and her owner Ivan Moreira put on a vintage performance last year in what was her debut in the Dog Surfing Championships.

The duo won the “Top Dog” award last year, and they’re determined to do it again. They’ve had a whole year to prepare for the contest. The thing is that Cacau and her owner are from Brazil, where it’s summer when it’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

That said, they had at least a couple of months more to practice than most other contestants.

(Under)Dogs to Watch Out For

Cacau is the No. 1 favorite to win the 2025 Dog Surfing Championships, but as is the case with entertainment betting, surprises do happen. If you think an underdog is going to win on August 2, here are some pups to watch out for:

  • Cherie the Surf Dog – The French Bulldog is a sort of celebrity in the pup universe. Born in 2011, she was rescued by Dan Nykolayko, who worked hard to turn her into a champ. She won this competition in 2019, and now, at the age of 15, she’s ready for one last dance.
  • Rippin Rosie – She’s a Labrador with incredible energy whose character (and surfing skills) have won the hearts of her 300,000+ followers on Instagram. That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if she won the hearts of the judges on August 2.

There are six other dogs with similar odds, while the only pup priced at +1000 is Derby. The California-based surf dog is the biggest underdog on the list, but we don’t think you should underestimate this fellow.

Same as his owner, Derby is a pink rocker with a blue Mohican, whose super-fun to watch. That said, based on what we’ve seen from them (on social media), the two aren’t the best surfers on the planet.

2025 Dog Surfing Championships Prediction

All dogs on the list are friendly, funny, and exciting, but this isn’t a contest deciding who’s got the best dog. Instead, it’s about which dog’s best at surfing. And our answer is Cacau.

The chocolate Labrador’s owner is Ivan Moreira, who’s somewhat of a legend when it comes to watersports. He’s the Guinness World Record holder for the longest stand-up paddleboard ride on a river alongside a dog.

Moreira did it with a dog called Bono, and now with Cacau, he’s ready to make history again.

Pick: Cacau
