$2 Tap Water at Vegas Starbucks Sparks Fresh Price Outrage
A viral receipt showing $2 charges for tap water at a Las Vegas Starbucks has reignited criticism over rising prices and added fees on the Strip
Do you remember the public outrage that the $26 water bottle at Aria Resort in Las Vegas caused last June? The crazy-priced water saga seems to carry on, according to a social media post that has gone viral.
Jeff Sotto, an X user who shared a recent receipt from Starbucks Luxor Convention West, a coffee franchise that operates out of the MGM Resorts International managed by Luxor Hotel & Casino, made a disturbing discovery after paying for one Americano and two cups of water: each cup of water was charged at $2.
“Fees Galore“
“Only in Vegas do you pay for tap water. @Starbucks is charging $2 per tap water. So my Americano is now an $11 coffee. And you wonder why some people complain about what’s happening in Las Vegas. Fees galore.”, the X user commented.
His receipt and harsh comment were quickly shared by local influencer Las Vegas Locally, who was not shy from adding their own two cents on the matter: “A cup of Vegas tap water should cost 25 cents max.”
The shared post has gathered over 72,000 views, with most comments lobbying for lowered prices. Some users even came up with possible scenarios that led to the outrageous charge, ranging from the store manager seeking to “hit numbers” to it being the act of a “shady employee”.
Other users were quick to share the locations of public drinking fountains as alternatives to paying a small fortune for tap water in Las Vegas.
While the Gambling Capital of the World frequently speaks about the purity of water from Nevada suppliers, some X users commented that consumers should actually be paid “to drink hard water,” while others jokingly called Starbucks the “worst place to drink straight black coffee.”
Pizza Prices Gone Mad
Crazy price tags for water are not, however, the only things disturbing the peace of Sin City visitors who believe the new prices are hard to tackle. Concert goers at the popular Sphere venue have been equally shocked to learn that they should pull out roughly $170 for a pizza in June of 2025.
We should also mention that the pricing was set for a standard 18” pizza available for Backstreet Boys “Into The Millennium” concertgoers who had booked a special suite.
Nonetheless, tickets for the respective concert ran between $92.50 and $162.50, so the tag was still “embarrassing” as described by some X users.
