$2 Side Bet Brings Californian “Life-Changing Win” of $450,000

A $2 side bet turned into a massive payday for a Northern California player after he landed a rare seven-card straight flush in face-up pai gow poker

A North Highlands, California resident scooped up close to $450,000 after hitting the jackpot on a guest favorite casino game at a gambling venue “nestled in the Capay Valley just outside Sacramento and San Francisco”.

‘Winners Are Made Here”

Cache Creek Casino Resort, which describes itself as “Northern California’s premiere casino resort”, celebrated the particularly lucky Californian’s win in the highly popular game of face-up pai gow poker

The player hit the seven-card straight flush that automatically brought him the progressive jackpot that had reached exactly $447,810 at the time.

To achieve this feat, the poker player placed a low $2 wager on the special side bet of the game that carries its name from the dealer’s seven cards being dealt face up.

The casino’s general manager and chief operating officer, Kari Stout-Smith, called it a “life-changing win” in a follow-up press release announcing the good news.

“Moments like this are exactly why we say winners are made here. We love celebrating these incredible jackpots with our guests,” Stout-Smith added.

Guest-Favorite at the Property

Face-up pai gow poker is one of the favorite games preferred by guests at the Four-Diamond Casino Resort, as it cleverly mixes fun social play, strategic thinking, and a high potential for significant wins.

The Vegas-style property owned by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation offers over 600 luxury hotel rooms, 10 dining experiences, including Enso and C2, world-class entertainment, a spa, pools, and even a championship Yocha Dehe Golf Course for golf lovers.

The gambling venue has no less than 2,300 exclusive slot machines and 80 table games.

“Whether you are here to celebrate, unwind, or for the love of gaming, we’ll make you feel like a winner,” boasts the casino.

Last August, another lucky Iowa poker aficionado took home a $937,040 progressive jackpot at The LINQ Hotel playing the same face-up pai gow game and hitting the seven-card straight flush.

The man, who was celebrating his birthday at the casino with friends, joined the short list of players who have managed to get what many describe as the hardest hand in poker, with 1-in-4.8-million odds.
