YouTuber Faces Charges in Double Killing on Las Vegas Strip

Prosecutors state that Ruiz faces two felony charges of murder with a deadly weapon, and the July 11 indictment allows the case to proceed directly to district court, bypassing preliminary hearings

A Clark County grand jury has charged 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz, a web personality known as “Sin City Manny,” with the deadly shooting of two other streamers on the Las Vegas Strip. The event, which happened during a live stream on June 8, killed Rodney “Finny Da Legend” Finley, 44, and his wife, Tanisha, 43, near the famous Bellagio Fountains.

Streamer Charged with Murder After Fatal On-Camera Shooting

Prosecutors say Ruiz is charged with two felonies – murder with a deadly weapon. The indictment made public on July 11, lets the case go straight to district court, skipping preliminary hearings.

The fatal clash came from a long-running online fight between Ruiz and the Finleys, which had been getting worse since late 2023. This feud, according to police, hit its peak when Ruiz went up to the couple during their livestream shot at them, and ran away. Both victims died right there.

Detectives put the pieces together using security camera footage from nearby casinos. The video followed Ruiz from the crime scene to a valet station at Paris Las Vegas, where he got rid of clothes and a 9mm pistol. Tests on the gun later showed it matched the bullet casings found where the shooting happened.

Video taken one day before the shooting captured Ruiz driving on the Las Vegas Strip while making subtle comments thought to target Finley. Police think this points to planning ahead. In the recording, Ruiz hinted at a showdown, saying things like, “Wherever you go, I will be there.”

Digital Trail Undermines Self-Defense Claim in Las Vegas Double Homicide Case

Ruiz surrendered to Henderson police the next morning. When questioned, he said he acted in self-defense claiming he thought Rodney was grabbing a gun, and Tanisha seemed to hold something threatening. However, detectives found no weapons on or near the victims, and none showed up in the livestream or later footage. Cops also say Ruiz tried to erase damaging video after he shot them.

In court, Ruiz’s lawyer revealed that officials had gathered over four terabytes of digital proof. Ruiz stays locked up without bail at the Clark County Detention Center and will face arraignment on July 17.

The incident has caused a huge loss to the tight-knit group of livestream fans who followed the Finleys. Those close to Rodney portrayed him as a caring dad and calm presence who liked to use jokes to settle disagreements instead of getting into fights.

The case remains under investigation as the prosecution gets ready for what will be a watched court case.
