UKGC to Part Ways with Industry Forum Chair Nick Rust

Nick Rust, the chair of the UK Gambling Commission’s (UKGC) Industry Forum, has decided to step down from his position. The authority thanked him for his contributions and wished him all the best.
Rust Will Not Serve Another Term
The UKGC clarified that Rust will serve the rest of his term but will not apply for a renewal. His term, for context, is set to end in November.
The UKGC used Rust’s departure as an opportunity to applaud his incredible contributions. According to the British gaming regulator, the man has played a key role in the creation and development of the Forum and has worked closely with the commission to make sure that the voices and expertise of industry stakeholders are heard.
During Rust’s time as chair of the Industry Forum, it became a “vital part of the Commission’s wider engagement and governance structure.”
For reference, the Industry Forum was created to provide the UKGC with insights into the views of the gaming industry about the regulator’s plans, the quality of its regulation, and the broader UK gaming sector and regulatory framework.
The UKGC Wished Rust All the Best
Rust commented on his departure, saying that he was glad to have had the opportunity to chair the Industry Forum and support the UKGC in its quest to learn more about the industry’s feelings on policy and operational performance.
I’m pleased with the work the Forum has delivered and believe it has helped the Commission better understand the implications of its existing and planned policies for consumers and industry operators.

Rust thanked his fellow Forum members and the broader UKGC team for their support. Even as he prepares to depart, Rust said that he remains interested in following the Industry Forum’s developments and seeing where it goes.
Helen Child, the UKGC’s head of governance, also commented on Rust’s upcoming departure, thanking him for his contributions and wishing him future success.
I have very much enjoyed working with him as we established the Forum, and I would like to thank Nick for his hard work in getting the group to this point. We wish him well for the future.

Andrew Rhodes, the UKGC’s CEO, echoed Child’s words, saying that he has greatly enjoyed working with both Rust and the Forum. He concluded:

The UKGC noted that it will eventually appoint a new chair of the Forum. The regulator promised to share more news in the future.
