Trump Suggests Miriam Adelson Favors Israel over the US, Sparking Concerns Among Critics

True to his style, President Donald Trump has once again made some outspoken remarks that triggered heated discussions. In this case, Trump made some comments about his long-term friend Miriam Adelson, an Israeli-American businesswoman and the largest Las Vegas Sands stakeholder.

Trump Highlighted Adelson’s Contributions

Adelson is a longtime Trump supporter who has previously supported his runs for office. She and her late husband and LVS founder, Sheldon Adelson, have been staunch supporters of the president, with Miriam long requesting his intervention in the ongoing Gaza conflict.

Trump, who played a key role in negotiating a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, just did a victory lap and commented on Adelson’s influence on the relationship between the US and Israel.

Unlike previous presidents, Trump listened to the Adelsons’ request to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem – something he highlighted during his victory lap speech. Trump also reminisced about his friendship with Sheldon Adelson, whom he described as an “aggressive” but lovable man.

Trump continued his speech by asking Miriam Adelson to stand up and accept his praise. He celebrated her love for both America and Israel and described her as a “wonderful woman.”

At that moment, Trump also teased that he once asked her which country she loved more – the US or Israel. Since she didn’t respond, he suggested that she might have a stronger fondness for Israel than she does for America.

CAIR Encourages American Politicians to Reject Adelson’s Support

When Trump made his comment, he recognized that it might get Adelson in trouble, which is exactly what ended up happening. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, welcomed Trump’s transparency on the issue and expressed concern with Adelson’s stance, considering her influence over the government.

We welcome President Trump’s honesty in sharing the level of influence Miriam Adelson wields over our government, as well as exposing her refusal to say whether the United States or Israel is more important to her. We encourage President Trump and all American political leaders to reject support from Ms. Adelson and anyone else who supports genocide and prioritizes the interests of a foreign government over our own nation.
