The Star Selects Daniel Finch for Brisbane CEO
Subject to regulatory approval, the new CEO is expected to assume his role around mid-February

The leading gambling and entertainment company in Australia, The Star Entertainment Group, announced a new strategic senior-level appointment. The company confirmed Tuesday it selected the former Expedia Australia executive, Daniel Finch, for the role of chief executive officer (CEO).
In his new position with The Star, he will be tasked with overseeing the company’s Brisbane operations. Although the appointment was confirmed by The Star, the company explained that it is subject to the relevant regulatory approvals. In light of this, the company confirmed that the new CEO is expected to assume his role around mid-February.
As CEO, Finch is expected to play a pivotal role in The Star’s Brisbane operations. He will be in charge of strategic processes and will leverage his extensive experience within the hospitality and travel sector. In his new role, the CEO will report to Robbie Cooke, The Star’s managing director and group CEO.
Overall, Finch brings more than two decades of experience in the entertainment and leisure industries. Over the last 20 years, he held a number of senior-level roles in different markets across the globe, including New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the UK.
The Star Brisbane’s CEO Shares His Excitement
Sharing his excitement, Finch revealed that it is thrilling to be appointed to the role of CEO ahead of the opening of The Star Brisbane planned this year. He explained that the new business is important not only for the company but for Queensland as well. “We are excited to be taking on the responsibility of driving domestic and international tourism by delivering a world-class venue and experiences that locals will be proud to experience all year round,” added Finch. He added that an ongoing focus for himself and the team at Brisbane would be to deliver exceptional experiences for the guests that are expected every year.
“A major priority will be to build trust and reputation with guests, patrons, stakeholders and the local community. This will create the foundation that will set The Star up for sustainable long-term growth and success.“
Daniel Finch, CEO of The Star Brisbane
Before being appointed to the role of CEO of The Star Brisbane, Finch was most recently a part of Expedia Australia. His tenure with the company lasted for nine years and he held the role of managing director.
Robbie Cooke, The Star’s managing director and group CEO, revealed that it is exciting to expand the company’s team of experts with the addition of Finch. He outlined that the latest appointment follows the promotion of Jess Mellor to CEO of Gold Coast. “We are also well advanced in our search for our Sydney CEO,” he added. Finally, Cooke said Finch is the perfect fit for the new role, considering his extensive experience and invaluable knowledge.
