The Star Entertainment Group Welcomes Mathieson as NED
Mathieson’s appointment comes after Michael Issenberg, who has served as a NED since July 11, 2022, decided no to stand for re-election

Australian casino and hospitality company The Star Entertainment Group Limited has unveiled changes to its board. This will see the company welcome a new non-executive director as a separate one prepares to leave.
The Star Adds a New NED
According to The Star’s announcement, Bruce Mathieson Jr. will join its team as a NED. His appointment was originally proposed on August 29, 2025, and was dependent on certain regulatory and ministerial approvals.
The Star confirmed that all necessary regulatory and ministerial approvals have now been obtained, allowing Mathieson to step in as the company’s latest board member.
Mathieson’s appointment comes after Michael Issenberg, who has served as a NED since July 11, 2022, decided no to stand for re-election. Issenberg is set to depart from the company after the conclusion of the company’s 2025 Annual General Meeting.
The Star Entertainment Welcomed Mathieson
Anne Ward, The Star Entertainment Group’s chair, commented on the new board changes, thanking Issenberg for his incredible service as a NED over his 3 years with the company. She praised his contributions during his time as chair of the Culture, People and Remuneration Committee, member of The Star Audit Committee, and chair of The Star Brisbane.
Ward promised to further acknowledge Issenberg’s hard work at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
In the meantime, she welcomed Mathieson to the team.
I would also like to welcome Bruce Mathieson Jnr. to the Board and look forward to working with him as we shape the future of The Star.

In other news, The Star recently obtained a debt waiver of AUD 430 million, relieving the operator of some of its financial woes.
