The Hockey News Appoints BetMGM an Exclusive Betting Partner

The Hockey News and BetMGM have entered into a partnership, which will provide the magazine’s readers with relevant details about the hockey world from a betting point of view.
BetMGM Gains Exposure to The Hockey News’ Global Readership Base
Canada-based ice hockey magazine The Hockey News has named BetMGM its exclusive sports-betting partner under a multi-year partnership. The agreement will provide The Hockey News with access to the sportsbook’s oddsmakers and betting markets. This will provide the hockey publication with valuable insight into the hockey industry from a betting perspective, which will be integrated into its podcasts and news articles.
On the other hand, BetMGM will increase its audience engagement through print ads in The Hockey News magazine. The news outlet features more than 1 million readers, while its video, podcast, and social media platforms reach millions of people around the globe, BetMGM said.
W. Graeme Roustan, owner and publisher of The Hockey News, said that trust and brand positioning have given BetMGM the edge over other sports betting partners:
“BetMGM is a trusted, well-known operator and we couldn’t be more excited to have found a long-term partner for our sports betting-related content.”
BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost commented that The Hockey News has established its outstanding position among hockey fans and will expose the operator to “one of the most passionate and knowledgeable fan bases in all of sports.”
BetMGM in a Bid to Enter North America
The news about the partnership comes just a few days after BetMGM announced that hockey icon and former NHL legend, Wayne Gretzky, is becoming its official brand ambassador. The sportsbook said the move is aimed at helping the company to establish itself on the Canadian market.
Last month, Canada became one step closer to legalizing single-event sports betting, when bill C-218 moved to the second reading in the Senate of Canada. The proposed legislation aims to remove the federal ban on single-game wagering and to let provinces decide whether to allow the activity on their territory.
If the sports betting bill is passed, it may bring an annual gross gaming revenue of more than $10 billion, Kevin Waugh, sponsor of C-218 in the House of Commons, estimated. Supporters of the bill are pushing the Senate to review the proposal before the current Parliamentary session ends on June 25. Gaming advocates are quite positive that the years-long efforts to legalize single-game betting in Canada have gained support among all parties in Parliament.
