The Boring Company Shares Footage of Loop Tunnel Digger

Elon Musk’s The Boring Company has showcased its tunnel-digging machine responsible for its ongoing works in Las Vegas. While tech enthusiasts were excited by the footage, some users on X were quick to point out apparent similarities between the erupting machine and popular media franchises.

The Works Continue

On X, The Boring Company shared a short video of the tunnel-digging machine behind its ongoing project to construct a tunnel underneath Las Vegas. The video showcases the machine emerging in front of Wynn Resorts’ popular Encore Las Vegas casino hotel.

While the digger is certainly fascinating, people have generally had a mixed response to Elon Musk’s Las Vegas Loop project. Musk’s big plan is to create a system of tunnels underneath Las Vegas, helping people cross Sin City quickly and easily. The Loop features multiple Tesla cars that navigate the narrow underground passages, transporting people between key points in the city.

While some have been skeptical of Musk’s design, The Boring Company claims that the Loop has transported a peak of 4,500 people within a single hour.

In any case, the Loop’s construction continues and the five main stations are already in exploitation. As of the time of this writing, players can use the Loop to travel between destinations, such as Encore Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Convention Center, and Resorts World Las Vegas. Musk’s The Boring Company is now working on adding the Harry Reid International Airport to the Loop.

Sci-Fi Made Real?

While some expressed fascination with the digging technology and others used the opportunity to take the occasional jabs at Musk, a few users on social media quickly pointed out the eeriness of the emerging digging machine and compared it to things from science fiction media.

One user said that the imagery reminds him of Tremors, an older monster horror film that coincidentally takes place in Nevada. A separate user mentioned that the machine reminds him of The Dark Knight Rising, while a third noted that “Dune has come to Vegas,” referring to the iconic Shai-Hulud sandworms.
